Terms of Service

These Terms of Service are a legal agreement between you and myIDBuddy. They govern your access to and use of the myIDBuddy app, the myidbuddy.com website, the waitlist, and related features. By creating an account, joining the waitlist, or otherwise using the Services, you agree to these Terms.
In these Terms, “myIDBuddy,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the operator of the Services, and “you” refers to the person using them. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Services.
1. Eligibility and Sign-Up
You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use the Services. myIDBuddy is built for ID and standby travelers — airline employees and their eligible travel partners and family members who travel on staff-travel or interline benefits.
To keep the community genuine, airline employees must sign up using a valid airline or work email address, which we use to confirm eligibility. Eligible travel partners and family members — who typically do not have an airline email — may join by invitation from a verified employee. We may verify, decline, or revoke eligibility and access at any time, including if we cannot confirm a qualifying airline affiliation. By using the Services, you represent that the information you provide about your travel role and eligibility is true and that your use complies with your employer’s or benefit provider’s rules.
2. Your Account
- You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information and to keep it up to date.
- You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for all activity under your account.
- You may maintain only one account, and you may not share, sell, or transfer your account.
- Notify us promptly at hello@myidbuddy.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
3. The Service
myIDBuddy lets you build a traveler profile, see other travelers on a map by destination, create and join trips, view staff-travel load information, and message other travelers. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We strive to keep the Services available but do not guarantee they will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available.
4. Verification and Badges
Identity verification (a live selfie matched to your profile photos) is optional and, where you use it, helps confirm that a real person is behind an account. A verification badge indicates that we performed an automated and/or manual check at a point in time. It is not a guaranteeof any person’s identity, character, intentions, safety, or eligibility, and you should not rely on it as such. Verification is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
5. Your Content
“Your Content” means anything you submit through the Services — including profile details, photos, trip information, and messages. You retain ownership of Your Content. By submitting it, you grant myIDBuddy a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute Your Content solely to operate, provide, and improve the Services (for example, showing your profile and trips to other travelers and delivering your messages). This license ends when you delete Your Content or your account, except for content already shared with others, backups retained for a limited period, or content we must keep to comply with the law.
You represent that you have the rights to Your Content and that it does not infringe anyone’s rights or violate any law. You are solely responsible for Your Content.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Harass, threaten, defame, stalk, or harm other users, or engage in hate speech or discrimination;
- Impersonate any person or misrepresent your identity, travel role, age, or affiliation;
- Post content that is unlawful, sexually explicit, fraudulent, deceptive, or that you do not have the right to share;
- Use the Services for commercial solicitation, spam, recruiting, or unauthorized advertising;
- Collect, scrape, or harvest other users’ data, or access the Services by automated means without our permission;
- Attempt to circumvent verification, join rules, filters, or security measures;
- Interfere with or disrupt the Services, introduce malware, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system or account;
- Use the Services in violation of any applicable law, airline policy, or staff-travel/interline agreement;
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Services without our written consent.
We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our discretion.
7. Connecting and Meeting Other Travelers
myIDBuddy helps travelers find and communicate with each other, but we do not conduct criminal background checks and we do not vouch for any user. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other travelers. Use good judgment, especially when meeting in person — meet in public places, tell someone your plans, and never share sensitive financial information. You meet and travel with others at your own risk. If you feel unsafe or encounter abuse, stop the interaction and report it to us and, if needed, to local authorities.
8. Staff-Travel and Flight Information
Staff-travel load information, seat availability, standby counts, and similar flight data shown in the app are provided for general informational purposes only, may be estimates or user-supplied, and can change at any time. They are not booking confirmations or guarantees of a seat. myIDBuddy is an independent app and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any airline. Airline names, codes, and marks belong to their respective owners. You are responsible for following your own airline’s staff-travel and confidentiality policies, and for verifying loads through official channels before you travel.
9. Third-Party Services
The Services integrate with third parties such as Instagram and mapping providers. Your use of those services is governed by their terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services and do not endorse them.
10. Fees and Paid Features
The Services are currently offered free of charge. If we introduce paid features or subscriptions in the future, we will disclose the applicable pricing and terms before you are charged, and any purchases made through an app store will also be subject to that store’s terms.
11. Our Intellectual Property
The Services, including the myIDBuddy name, logo, software, design, and content we provide (excluding Your Content), are owned by myIDBuddy and protected by intellectual-property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Services. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from the Services except as permitted by law.
12. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using the Services and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure for us, or if we discontinue the Services. Upon termination, your right to use the Services ends. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including content license terms already shared, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive.
13. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE, THAT INFORMATION (INCLUDING FLIGHT LOADS) WILL BE ACCURATE, OR THAT ANY USER IS WHO THEY CLAIM TO BE.
14. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, MYIDBUDDY AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR FOR PERSONAL INJURY OR PROPERTY DAMAGE ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICES OR FROM YOUR INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER USERS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICES WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR USD $100. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THESE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
15. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless myIDBuddy from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the Services, Your Content, your interactions with other users, or your violation of these Terms or any law.
16. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which myIDBuddy is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence apply. We will try to resolve disputes informally first — please contact us at hello@myidbuddy.com. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be subject to the courts of that jurisdiction, unless applicable law provides otherwise.
17. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Your continued use of the Services after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
